The Misty Mountains..a long thought fictional place..but far from, was where he had travelled for the past few nights after the successful assassination of that upstart noble. Now..having collected the bounty from his employeer in the village of Nephlizar..it was time for the assassin to catch his breath and return home. And how he missed the subtle smells and tastes of home..he could almost taste the stew waiting for him at home, cooked by his serv...wait..what servants? He lived alone..in a rundown house within the canopies...rundown, because it would've been a bother to buy a new home, getting paid servants and going to market each and every day to get supplies. That life..wasn't for him...
Then again..it could've been. A pretty little woman, waiting at home every night..having dinner on the table after a successful bounty was paid for...a thrall of brats, er...children, each wanting their father to read to them before bedtime. Yeah..he could've imagined himself living that kind of lifestyle.
And in imagining it..he busted out laughing! A lone male, wearing patched leather coat and pants..boots of fur and leather...and a 'cowboy' style hat on his head..just laughing to himself, while flipping a gold coin over and over into the air, catching it each time, only to repeat the process. "Jean..you t'inkin' dem crazy thoughts again" he'd whisper to himself while walking down a lonely, dusted path. Lonely..because he was, perhaps..the only one brave enough to weather said path, one known for numerous brutal murders as well as several bandit gangs that had taken refuge in small, dotted camps. They rarely ever bothered him...he'd had one meeting with the 'leader' one the bandits strewn about the landscape..being threatened to have each and every inch of your body blown to pieces..tended to keep them away from him. He was left to his business..they to theirs..if they didn't interfere with him, he left them alone.
His laughing came to an end just as suddenly as it had started..only because his thoughts went back to the assassination. Sure..it was quick and easy..but, he did get to the target before anyone else..including the Sunain clan. While he normally had no problems with them..he didn't exactly think of them as the type to let someone else get their mark before them. Then again..the employeer wasn't exactly picky about who did the job..as long as it was done. And what a fine payout it was! He was able to buy quite the assortment of foodstock and wines off that job..and who could forget the elven spices! Yup..he could see them..alittle angered..
The sun wa sbeginning to come up over the Misty Mountains..and with a smirk, he'd remove his coat and dangle it over his right shoulder. "Now ta get busy fo' da next job..aftah some rest" he'd state to noone in particular..and with a glance upwards, he'd smirk. Home...he could see it just as clear as day..up within the foliage of one of the larger trees in the dense mountain forest..was his manor. Rundown..to him..but to anyone else who might've seen it..it was a literal mansion within the treetops. Connected to three different trees through the use of his elven 'friends'..it was luxurious and rather large, almost completely unseen through the leaves and branches. Around the bases of the trees to which his manor was connected..were a series of small, triangular contraptions..each, releasing subtle sparks and hints of magick. His traps had been set up long ago..to outsiders unsure, they kept an illusion of the trees as they normally should've been. In other words: Outsiders unaware of an illusion, would never see his manor, only the treetops.
Rubbing his hands together..he began leaping from tree to tree with his unnatural agility..upwards, until he reached the 'porch' of his manor. Snickering softly after such a feat, he'd walk towards the doors..open them, then walk within. Tossing his coat onto a chair, he'd plop down on his couch, arms behind his head and feet crossed..and let the stoked fires in the fireplace..relax him enough so that he would begin to nap. "Dis is da life" he'd whisper..before falling into a very light slumber

Sillouette
Sitting in the back of a tavern just south of the Mysty Mountains, feet kicked up on the table as she leaned back in her bench seat. While seated there the bellow of smoke from a lit rolled smoke came from her lips and her lowered hat was covering her face. In that moment the clomp of a heavy pair of boots aproached and an armored hand slapped down on the table. "You there! Woman! your description fits the wanted posters.. I am Bloodeye the hunter. and I am here to-" Before the man could finish a soft magical hum was heard as the pistol was pulled from her holster. Using the device, Sillouette tipped her hat up and glared toward the man with murderous glint in her eye. "Really now. That there's one 'ella cute introduction. let me offer one o'muh own." without a single warning the pistol was moved with shocking speed before two high powered booms shook the walls to the tavern, stopping everything. With that Sillouette calmly stood up and moved over to sit against the table while staring at the man who's feet were frozen solid to the floor. "Tha name's Sillouette, killah of 20 armed men in one village o' ol' Ayene an' 'less ya got a good 'nough reason. you 'bout ta be 21."
Cocking another round the pistol in her hand hummed once more and a ring of energy wrapped around the air at the tip of the pistols barrel. When it did sparks arced and a glowing red ball of flames formed inside the barrel. When the light appeared, the man was quick to reply. "Please no! I'm sorry! Please I have children at home who need me! I swear! Let me go and you'll never see me again!" As Sillouette heard this she huffed and looked toward the frightened tavern patrons. Then lowering the pistol she shot at his feet, freeing them from the ice. "Ya get off luckeh dhis 'ere time, undahstand? Now.. piss off 'fer I change muh mind an make ya kids orphans." When she finished speaking the pistol was stowed and she sat back down at the bench. Which prompted the man to run with all his might out of the building. What she didn't see was the several others who rushed out and spread the word about the presence of a wanted woman in town. No, as she sat she clanked her spur on the table and shouted out to the tavern barkeep. "'Ey! bring meh a drink! Dhen tell meh where ah can get a good game o' cards at!" Rushed over to her was a mug of liquor and the barkeeps words. "S...stick around, someone will show that'll play you soon ma'am, especially since we've all seen your wanted posters around. the crimes.. we..we don't want any trouble, Miss.. just please finish your business here and leave. Please."
At her hearing this she shook her head and huffed once more before speaking. "Fine.. ya yella belly rat. Ah'll leave town when ah'm dun 'ere wif it." Once that was said she relaxed and lowered her hat once more as she waited. "less' see what come fer meh nex'."

He hadn't taken a very long nap..hell, if anything..it was the power nap of the century! Maybe an hour..but, even an hour was more then enough..besides, anymore time wasted..and he might've gone mad! Thus why..when he woke, the first thing he did was grab a quick bite to eat..leftover hogshank..perfectly seared..and gobbled that down like it was his very last meal. Then again..given his line of work..any meal might've been his last..thus why he lived life to the fullest. The sun was going down..and it was the perfect time of the day to grab a quick pint over at the local tavern..perhaps the only establishment other then his house around the mountain range..and boy, did an elvish wine sound good! Leave it to the elves..longevity, and a damn good sense of taste..and people always said the dwarves were good with their stout!
Leaping down from his treetop manor..a quick walk around the perimeter to check the stability of the illusion inducing traps..and, when finding them satisfactory..he began making his way towards the tavern, leaping and bounding all the way there. Having heightened agility and dexterity came in handy for just such occasions, surely. So needless to say, it didn't take him long to reach the tavern..
And the commotion that was within it, either..
Hell..he even heard ol' Bloodeye..sounding like he was hitting the sauce abit too much..again...however, when normally there was protests of his binge drinking..this time, there was no such thing. This time, ol' Bloodeye was talking about his wife and kids..pfft, must've been hearing things..only 'wife' and 'kids' he had..were his weapons and money. After his little rant..came some familiar sounding words..well, not the words..but the accent used to say them. That..when he reached the door..made him perk a brow..could it have been that there was another of his kind there? Nah..impossible...that boat sank, with the rest of his people so nicely anchored to the oars. He saw to that himself...
Now the question was...'what was coming next?'..well, that could've been answered nice and properly..and he had the exact words for it. Well..maybe not words..afterall, didn't actions speak louder then words? A mere tap on the door..and a energy passed into the wood, 'pooling' from the other parts of the door to the inner..something that wasn't exactly able to be seen or heard..however, that would change..because that energy, once pooled..would 'trail' downwards from the door..and like a match dropping on a powder trail..would snake its way quickly towards the table and chair the stranger sat upon.
And sure enough...seat and table..would go BOOM..in a loud, powerful explosion..the question though: Who she be there in that seat when it would go boom?

indeed she had stood up and was about to go sit back down with the chair and table exploded Though she didn't stay still and let it happen she rolled behind Bloodeye the moment the energy was coming, as though she felt it coming or somehow her body felt the shift in energy and laughed out when he took the brunt of the damage. Instantly her hand had her pistol drawn again and energy much like sunlight was humming as she held her arm outward and followed the boom to the door. "'right! Now! who did it?!? What lilly livered yella belly pile'uh worm waist did it? Huh? Which on ya varmint's wanna gamble yer life on a dumb fool move like dhat!?!" When she finished speaking she glared about and put the pistol to the back of Bloodeye's head. "Soreh big'un.. yer pall just cost ya. Adios uh-me-go" At that moment she Pulled the trigger and a blast of super heated energy lashed out toward Bloodeye's head. Even then she turned her head to look away calmly as she spoke once more. "Now. Ah'll give tha one dhat blew up muh chair, one chance. Uh game o' cards.. no trickin' er fussin' real simple like, li'l game uh cards. Winner get whatever drink's dhey wantin' in duh bar. Whutya say eh?" That said she watched to see if the one who blew the chair and table up would come into the open.

The resulting explosion sent chunks of wood and splinters flying outwards..however, that was enough. Had the woman looked around, the patrons were starting to pack up and run out of the tavern as quickly as they could! First a homicidal woman..and now, random explosions..it was enough for the brigands and other cutthroats to get lost. No amount of bounty..or even booze..was worth the possibility of getting drawn into an outright bloodbath.
He'd merely chuckle as he'd lean against the side of the entrance, his arms dug down deep into the folds of his trenchcoat. The people scattering like flies..he couldn't help himself..besides, he never liked half the people in that tavern anyway. So to clean the rats out..hell..it was a side-effect he wasn't anticipating..but thoroughly enjoyed.
When he finally did enter into the tavern after the stampede..he'd lean against the doorframe, clapping his hands slowly, keeping his head down and the hat over his features. "Congratulations..dat da quickest I tink any o' dese people moved in dere entire life. An' da way you made poor ol' Bloodeye take da blunt o' meh explosion..seem like all dat fanceh talk just ain't fo' show"
Kicking off the doorframe, his hands now in the pockets of his coat again, he'd make his way towards her..though, he'd stop a few good feet away from her..leaving a nice distance between the two..and with his left hand, he'd tip up his hat. Red and black eyes looked towards the woman..the scruffy assassin that he was..a carefree smirk along his lips.
"A card game, you say? An' da winnah get a drink o' whatevah he want? Dat sound like fun..what game you got in mind dat ole Jean-Pierre can best you in?"

She smirked lightly toward the cleared out Tavern. Something she would have normally been thankful for, but as the man approached she took in his stance and demeanor and nodded before twirling the arcane pistol back into it's holster fluidly. "Tha name o' tha game? One my old favorites. 4 card draw. one arm prince and lovahs wild. Simple 'nough, 'ight?"Once she said this she sat at the and directed her hand across the table. "like ah say. Take seats an' less' talk. Nah ah'm bettin' ya 'eard o' mah deeds. Seen tha postah's an' maybeh 'eard tha talk o' tha' woman been runnin' round makin a stir. Ah need tha work that'll put food on tha plate an' keep mah head out o' tha target o' them filtheh yella bellied rotten no good back stabbin son of a papa's miss fire bounteh 'unters. yah followin mah words?" after speaking she started to shuffle the cards, hands skillful and quick she shuffled one direction spun the cards shuffled the other direction broke the cards then shuffled them again several more times and finally slapped them face down on the table and lined them out across the table to show them calmly before making them flip over in a wave across the table to show that the deck was clean before giving Jean a minute to look over the cards and saying. "split an' ga'er 'em up. Tha names Sillouete but yah can call meh Tanya." With that said she watched Jean closely, his hands movements, the way he sat, even the style of coat and how it sat on his body. "Oh, an' fer both our health.. take off tha coat. It's rude ta gamble wif long sleeves."

He couldn't HELP but smirk..oh yeah, this woman was very reminicient of his people, the Acadians..her tone of voice, her accent..HELL..the fact that she wanted to play cards instead of fight. Not that he didn't mind..afterall, while he could cause a good amount of damage at any point and time..sometimes, it was good to just sit back, and cut the cards! So..needless to say..he did take a seat, however..he didn't remove his jacket. He'd tip his hat downwards, hiding his dual colored eyes from her..but gave her a rather sadistic smirk in return.
"Sorry, chere..but if ya wanna play strip draw..den dat somet'ing we can arrange latah. But fo' now..I leave my jacket on..but..." A flick of the wrist..and out came the card holders from underneath the sleeves of his jackets, which were placed down in the middle of the table..."At least I do dat..if only cause you a lady an' all..an' ain't nice ta cheat 'gainst a woman" Oh..that coy smirk of his grew even bigger after saying that..a hand in his pocket, producing a toothpick was shoved between his teeth. The toothpick itself..looked..old..used and worn..obviously, he had it for his own reason. In truth..it was his lucky toothpick. After that..his hands were on the tabletop, his naked fingers lightly tapping on the tabletop. However..with each tap..came a different energy signature that infused themselves into the wood structure of the table..at first, the table would get warm..then colded, then became a marble like texture..before lightning energies would flicker from the wood..only to repeat the process in various intervals.
"Oy..old man.." he'd call out while looking towards the bar..where, the bartender, eyes closed..was busy wiping down a few glasses..not paying a care in the world to the pair of cardsharks. Obviously..he was thoroughly used to seeing this kind of behavior..afterall, the Misty Mountains were home to bandits..as well as gambling addicted elves.."I take me a elven mulberry wine..dis, gonna be a good game..an' I tink dat alittle help from Lady Luck and her vice goin' ta help ole' Windrogue"

After she had cut the cards she shook her head to his words and actions. and shrugged as she then nodded and replied with the deep southern heavy country accent. "Good, cause I guess I can give you the same respect that you gave me." With that said she lowered her own hat a bit then slipped her hand over her ear and brushed away her hair from her face. before he could say a word, she set down a small sleeve of cards that were stashed in the brim of her hat. From that moment she'd then lean forward and smile as her deeply low "cut" top allowed her ample breasts to mash against the opening a moment, she'd reach between the crevice of her cleavage and dip her fingers out of sight for only a moment before pulling out another sleeve of cards. Last she'd reach and pull four more sleeves from her pockets and boots before setting them all out and replying. "Momma always said. If you gonna play the game never be the fools plaything. Too bad Momma was a tavern wench who took a magic attack to the face for bringing some creep the wrong drink." That said she'd look at the bar keep and speak to him as well. "I'll take a dead mans sunset, heavy on the heat and redder than a Vampires blood wine." Such being said she dealt the cards, four of them slid to Windrogue and four to herself. she'd glance over them and smile. "What'll it be?" After saying this the barkeep brought over a couple of drinks, both exactly what they asked for, the Elven wine in a plain stein while the sunset, was in a chilled glass mug, it's yellow to red shading set like a sunset in the glass. Above the rim of the glass the barkeep chanted for a moment and a simple fire spell sparked from his fingers to light the layer of clear pure alcohol on fire. That done, Sillouete stared at Windrogue and replied from behind her cards. "So, I'm lookin for work. and to be honest, these tavern jockey jobs are the pits. I am guessing you'd know where a girl on the run could find steady jobs, and a warm roof over her head?"
When she'd finish speaking her hand calmly flopped a couple of cards down and pulled out the same number, the cards she set down were face up. the ten treasures and the ten lovers. Then looking at her new cards she quirked her lips in a thoughtful expression while sliding them back and forth between her fingers "Your move.." she'd say still, eyes stashed behind the lip of her hat and only the soft full lips curled in a cocky relaxed smirk, if that was her poker face it was either ingenious or a dead giveaway.

"Lookin' fo' work, huh?" was all he would reply with..hidden behind the cards he had picked up, his hat tipped downwards so that his eyes were hidden. 'Kicking back' in his chair with a smirk along his lips, he couldn't help but enjoy this..how he loved a good game of cards..even moreso when the stakes were high! Life on the ropes..living for the moment..nothing better in the world, and woe to the one who argued with him..at least, out loud, anyway.
His right leg crossed and sat atop of his left knee..his tongue, clicking several times..his pointer finger, tapping against the back of one of the cards, which would infuse a small amount of energy within the card, but was quickly drawn out almost as quickly as it was infused. From over the top of his cards..he saw the ones she had put down..and couldn't HELP but smirk, rather devilishly. "Dat a good start" he'd remark, then return his gaze back to his own cards. Only after a few more minutes of deliberation did he finally throw down two cards of his own: The 8 and 9 of Peasants, then drew the same amount of cards he just tossed down. He kept that cocky smirk on his face the entire time..but never once, looking up at her. "I tink I be able ta help you find some work..but..dat depends on iffin you can beat meh hand. If ya do..den I tell you where work be found. If not..den..well..we find out how much or what you be willin' ta bet"
A new crowd began to enter into the tavern..this one, though..was one of bandits and cutthroats, being as loud and obnoxious as could be. When a few of them noticed the ongoing card game..a rather brutish, smelly orc of a man would find his way behind Silohoutte, placing his hands on her shoulders. "Tavern wenches that play cards..I think I'm in love. Come..entertain me for the night..I could use a womans soft, sultry touch" Another one, would move behind Jean, and tap a dagger on his shoulder several times..."Alright fancy boy..get up, and empty out your pockets..otherwise, you're gonna get gutted like a elarin saberfish"

Nodding to the words that Jean said, Tanya was just about to remark when she heard the door open and the men make their way into the tavern. So calmly keeping her eye on the cards she sighed out and stayed seemingly calm when the men approached and started to speak. "Right, ya mind handlin mah lightweight?" she asked Jean before she folded her hand together and set them face down in front of herself. With that she didn't give the men a moment to really think about anything as she drew and fired her pistol at the man that made the threat to Jean. When the round boomed through the room the shot that was fired seemed to chill the air it traveled through and left little snowflakes trickling down in it's wake. Though, the round was random enough that when it hit the man he'd fall back and shatter as though his entire body was frozen to the point that the bandit was basically crystalized instantly. After she did this she tipped her hat up to show her face as she spoke. "Now you boy's look an listen real good. Me an tha feller 'ere are havin a quiet card game. Unless ya want end up like ya rude friend there ya best leave us alone. Else mah body count an them wanted posters'll get bigger. got it?" With that said she leaned back in her chair and returned to the game at hand. "Right, were was we? Oh yeah. beatin that hand of yers. Well then, call ya. What ya got?" after she said that she looked at Jean and waited to see his hand before she'd reveal her cards.

"Perhaps I take care o' dat fo' you, chere" he quickly tossed out there as he put his own hand down, leaning back in his chair..arms crossed behind his head..even as the man with the knife seemed perplexed by the casualness between the two! However..such perplexity was completely smashed away..by his sudden freezing..but the man that was threatening Silhouette..would just blink and started to pull out a rather large mace from his belt. But..there was a slight..problem...that mace, had melted into a rather..slushy..pile of overheated chunks. Whistling softly while tipping the back of his chair backwards, rockingly pushing himself forward then backwards..he couldn't help but give a small smirk. When the man dropped the useless chunk of melted mace..he was about to reach for Silohouette..that was, until something flew through the air..and smacked him right on the chin. Whatever it was..it was small..and triangular...and buzzing. "Wha..." "I use small words fo' you, mon'ami..." came from Windrogue, who had crossed his left leg over his right knee at that point, and was just snickering softly at that point.."Dat a trap..you goin' ta get hurt..an' dat you warnin'. Go 'way now, buh bye.."
His eyes flared..and the mechanisms in the trap began to whir..loudly...which, overworked the pistons in the small object, producing a small electro spark in the nucleus..which, in turn..sudden, became VERY hot upon the surface of the mans cheek..hot enough, that the flesh was beginning to sear and bubble, boiling and melting. Needless to say..he began screaming as loudly as he could..and Jean, just picked up his cards again, holding them still while clicking his tongue. Only when she called for call..he'd tip his hat upwards, and smirk behind the cards. "You sure you want dat? We ain't made no bets yet..an' ol' Windrogue, he don't play cards fo' cheap. Make you bet first..den..we see what fate got in sto' fo' you"

Seeing the two attacked, she laughed and shook her head to the situation. "Ya know ya'll some tha dumbest bandits a girl can run into." After a moment she looked at her cards again and lifted her hat to look at Jean. "A bet eh? Fine, ah don't think that bet ya want gonna be tha one ya think." At that moment she slipped her hand down her thigh calmly and reached in her boot only to pull out a small pouch and flop it out on the table. inside the pouch the sound of rocks could be heard as she spoke. "Ah doubt ya got the price to match, mister. That there works out to 'bout 3.7 million in the weight of a gold coin. iffin ya wanna up tha stakes ah know where there's more. As tha sayin goes back home, cross tha big water, money talks an ah got enough ta tell a bible's worth." Once she finished speaking Tanya watched him coldly, no emotion on her face, not a single telling sign of her hand's contents. gazing directly into his eyes hers shimmered with magical sparks, almost like her very blood was charged with energy from an outside source. Finally, after a moment of this passed and she said without a missed breath. "Yer move swamp rat."

"Oui..a bet..dat what be missin' from dis game. Now dat we got da circus ta scram..I tink maybe..we take dis game seriously from now on" he'd reply at her seemingly shocked way of questioning about the bet..however, when she'd heft the bag of gold coins onto the table, he'd tip his hat upwards, only enough to reveal a single red and black eye..then, smirk. "Woah..we pullin' out da big 'mounts so quickly..now, you sho' *Sure* dat you wanna be doin' dat? Cause..iffin I match dat bet an' lose..den I ain't gonna be happy"
His feet plopped up on the tabletop, crossing at the ankles..his boots, a muddy mess..and he'd lean back in his chair after lowering his hat to cover his eyes. A loud, exaggerated sigh came from him after a moment or two..but, he'd then reach into his pocket..and pull out a single wrapped cloth. Undoing the wrapping with his pointer and middle fingers, he'd then place the unveiled item on the table: a single, clear, flawlessly cut emerald..however, it held within it a nucleus..a sparking light in the middle, flickering and pulsing brilliantly. "Dis emerald..I stole from da King of Moonbrooke..said ta be worth two kings ransoms. Don't know what it do..don't know what it fo'..but..aftah all I do ta get it from heavily guarded vaults..den gotta be worth quite da load, oui?"
Holding up his cards infront of him..covering the rest of his face, naturally..he'd smirk behind the cards. For certain..she couldn't miss the flaring of his eyes even behind the hat..his fingers tapping ever so gently on the cards.."So..is meh bet worth you price? Cause if it be..den...I tink it now be time ta see if you can beat ole' Windrogue..in cards, dat be"

At the sight of the gem, her smile grew and she'd tilt her hat back with a sparkle in her eye. "Oh, ah'm sure ah'm wantin' ta make this 'ere bet. an' stand by it glad, 'less yer feelin' yelluh.. Now, ya tryin' ta use dem charms of yer sort ta wow meh. Well all that sparkles shines ah say, ya gota deal. one helluva bet ah say. Now then since a good man like ya called, ah'll accept." With that she took her hat off and set it to the side on the table. Calmly from there she set the first card down. "prince of love. good start ta uh good hand." she said then pulled the next card and smirked as she spoke. "Lady of love. Looks like tha Prince is lookin' fer a good time!" Then setting the third she sighed and stared into the gambler's eyes. "Uh oh, dat sneaky one arm prince. Looks like some trouble comin'." Finally she held up the last card and grinned. "I think I win an ta steal a nickname ta yer kind. Mon'ami da cards neva lie." Saying the last part with quite possibly the worst attempt at a 'cajun' accent one could hear. She'd set down the last card and wink. "Dah hangman's luck, looks like I put out three wild's an this here is the queen of knives. hope ya got a good hand, cause dat's gunna be rough." Once she finished talking she took hold of her drink and nodded as she sipped at it confidently.

"Ole' Jean-Pierre might be many tings, chere..but a coward ain't one o' dem" he'd reply, kicking his feet up on the table and leaning back in his chair. When the mention of her accepting the bet was made..he couldn't help but smile. He had a damn good hand..but imagine his surprise when she actually put her cards down on the table! So much a surprise..that he actually went straight faced..she had a good hand as well..but there was only one problem.
A moment or two after her hand was placed down..his feet were off the table, leaning forward..and one by one, he'd 'throw' his cards on the table..lo and behold..he had the same hand! "Ain't dat funny, chere..cause it lookin' like one o' us done cheated..an' I tink I get a sense on who da cheater be" Standing from his chair, his hands went behind his head, fingers readily tapping on the back of his head..those red and black eyes, were staring right at her, metaphorically burning a hole through her head. "Now chere..why you goin' ta cheat on a game like dis, huh? Da stakes was too much fo' you or somet'ing? An' you called old Jean a coward"
After speaking, one hand came out from behind his head..and slammed down atop of the gem that was being offered..as well as a few of the coins that had spilled from the bag she presented. "I tink I take dis an' a few coins..fo' da trouble o' havin' ta play a lousy game wit' a cheatah..unless..you got a problem with dat.."
